Although I do this for fun, I'd like to request your assistance with the costs of keeping the site on-line.

Bandwidth use is well over 900 GIGabytes a month and it ain't cheap here in The Great White North. Anything you can spare will help to keep the site humming along. As you may have noted the DONATION BUTTON has been replaced, this at the command of the folks who provided the facility. I am prohibited from mentioning them by name. However, electronic donations can still be deposited to keep this web site alive, by using the button below, which, effectively, does the same thing.

In the 'Send Money To' box, just type in my e-mail addy, JC-GREEN@TELUS.NET, and all will work fine. Your support and donations are MOST appreciated!

I will generally do an update at the 10th of the month, the 20th and at the end of the month, with rotating pages from different sections of the site. Please read the introduction for each update and you'll find that I normally remember to hot-link to the appropriate new page.

Previous pages for this section will be placed in the archives for future reference and it's structure will normally be a month by month basis for each year (12 pages), sub-divided into three sections (A, B & C).

- 20th MAY, 2012 -

As the time to depart on the trip comes closer, I'm keeping busy with nailing down all the final details and so there's not too much to report on the kink side of the ledger.

Work on the video face plate for the gas mask has been completed and I've now created a 'cover plate' to hide all the messy details. Painting the damned thing to get the finish and reflectivity I want took a bit of time, but came to pass over the past couple of days. Here's some progress pix.

A word or two about how this newest toy came to pass ... I first learned of this concept some years ago from GRIMLY_FEENDISH and had a look at what he did. SO ... he's the one responsible (or to blame, if you'd rather :-) ), for this project eventually being done. Certainly, Grimly's and my ways of reaching the same goal are different, but both are equally as effective. Thank you, Grimly, for the inspiration!

And, finally, here's the end product from three different angles. When the helmet and mask are worn, no light enters, unless the video camera is activated, then things can get interesting :-).

I can now watch myself playing, or if the camera is helmet-mounted, attempt to move around. An external video feed can be supplied, or a movie. It's a wild concept for sure and should prove to be a lot of fun in the future.
